{"id":18773,"date":"2022-09-26T16:10:40","date_gmt":"2022-09-26T20:10:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.elearninginside.com\/?p=18773"},"modified":"2022-09-26T16:10:40","modified_gmt":"2022-09-26T20:10:40","slug":"mind-research-institute-debuts-the-neuro-based-insightmath-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.elearninginside.com\/mind-research-institute-debuts-the-neuro-based-insightmath-program\/","title":{"rendered":"MIND Research Institute Debuts the Neuro-based InsightMath Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mindresearch.org\/\">MIND Research Institute<\/a>, a neuroscience and education social impact organization dedicated to ensuring that all students are mathematically equipped to solve the world\u2019s most challenging problems, today announced InsightMath, a core elementary curriculum that transforms student learning by teaching math the way the brain learns will launch in Spring 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Building on 25 years of math learning research and proven results with the PreK-8 visual instructional program, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stmath.com\/?__hstc=142723050.6474746d01d3e9875a3ed6e3f863f11f.1636138406231.1644530597521.1644534108111.144&amp;__hssc=142723050.4.1644534108111&amp;__hsfp=4013217340&amp;_gl=1*qe1m7q*_ga*MTQxMTUxNTkyNS4xNjM2MDYwMTUy*_ga_0P3SHY9TVH*MTY0NDUzMzE4OS4xNTUuMS4xNjQ0NTM1NzUwLjU5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ST Math<\/a>, InsightMath was co-designed in collaboration with neuroscientists, researchers, educators, students, and families to give meaning to math for all students.<\/p>\n<p>These collaborators helped MIND\u2019s team design a culturally relevant math curriculum that connects with all students.<\/p>\n<h2>Math-loving problem-solvers<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cFor 25 years, ST Math has brought visual models, spatial reasoning, and the perception-action cycle into the learning process,\u201d said Nigel Nisbet, vice president of content creation at MIND Research Institute. \u201cInsightMath expands this time-tested approach into a full-classroom curriculum experience that helps students\u2014and teachers\u2014become math-loving problem-solvers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Built from the ground up during the pandemic, InsightMath was created to meet the unique needs of all classrooms by using visual learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving.<\/p>\n<h2>Giving control back to educators<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cThis is the first core math program that shifts the emphasis from, \u2018How do we teach?\u2019 to, \u2018How do kids learn?\u2019\u201d said Brett Woudenberg, the CEO of MIND Research Institute.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLearning happens when students are engaged in lessons, activities, puzzles, and projects. InsightMath is also about allowing teachers to have their own insights into math and to see their students&#8217; thinking in ways they&#8217;ve never seen them before\u2014to see the ways in which their students are making sense of the math and of themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>MIND Research Institute<\/strong> is a neuroscience and education social impact organization dedicated to ensuring that all students are mathematically equipped to solve the world\u2019s most challenging problems.
